Academy Vision
CIMSA is a "school within a school" for students who plan to attend college and are interested in a career in marine science. In their sophomore, junior, and senior years, students will take most of their core classes (English, Science, and History) together as a group.
Teachers of these core classes will follow a curriculum focusing on ocean and environmental themes.
As sophomores, students will take Biology, World History and English; during their junior year, their classes will be Marine biology, U.S. History and English. As seniors, they will take Environmental science, Economics/Government and English.
Through the Academy's partnership with Oxnard College, CIMSA provides students the opportunity to engage in many enrichment activities at the college's Marine Center at Channel Islands Harbor. Classrooms, laboratories and an aquarium at the Center includes touch tanks, a shark tank and display tanks holding local marine animals and plants.
